Prof. Dr. Mustafa Özcan is the Dean of the Faculty of Education at MEF University. He began his career as an elementary school teacher and moved to America to study Ph.D in 1988. Dr. Özcan worked as a teacher educator in the USA for 22 years and developed a model for teacher education called University within School. His two books on teacher education are: Teachers in the Information Age (2011) and University within School (2013). Dr. Özcan worked as a consultant for various universities and presented his University within School model in Cyprus, Finland, Italy, Ireland and the United States.

Assistant Professor Dr. Melike Acar was graduated from Boğaziçi University Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department and went to United Stated for postgraduate studies. She completed her master's degree at San Francisco State University in the field of Developmental Psychology and conducted research on the effects of cultural context on self-perception. She completed his Ph.D. in Human Development and Education at the University of California at Berkeley. She taught at Boğaziçi University Faculty of Education as a part-time lecturer between 2012-2017 and worked as a researcher at Boğaziçi University Education Policy Research and Application Center. She is a full time faculty member of Guidance and Psychological Counseling department at MEF University since September, 2017. Her research interests are the development of moral and social inquiry, the questioning of gender and cultural norms, and the inclusive and education practices. Dr. Melike Acar is also a member of Jean Piaget Community.

Assoc. Dr. Zümra Atalay (Özyesil) is the chair of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department of MEF University. She completed her doctorate degree in Guidance and Psychological Department of Selcuk University Institute of Social Sciences. She completed her post-doctorate study in Psychology Department of Rochester University. During this period, she attended motivation research groups and projects. Her fields of study are mindfulness, self-compassion, personality, humor, social skills, depression, stress and stress management, anxiety, anger and anger management. She has articles in searched international indexes and national peer-reviewed journals, abstracts in national and international congresses, book and book chapters, consulted master and doctorate theses. She has completed teacher training program in her expertise about mindfulness-based approaches in International Mindfulness Association in Oslo/Norway and founded Mindfulness Institute in Turkey. She has completed many training and workshops about mindfulness. She also organized a number of trainings, workshops and group works.

Gökçe Bulgan has received her bachelor and masters degrees in Psychological Counseling and Guidance from Boğaziçi University and her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Purdue University. She worked as a research assistant at both universities and taught undergraduate courses at Boğaziçi University for three years following her doctoral degree. She has been a faculty member at MEF University since March 2014. Gökçe has over 10 years of clinical experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds in the United States and Turkey. She provided individual counseling and couples/family therapy at several institutions including Purdue University Counseling and Guidance Center, Family Services Community Mental Health Center, and University of Washington Student Health Center. In addition to her academic career, she has been providing psychological counseling and organizational training services in English and Turkish since December 2013 at Lumina Counseling and Training Center, where she is the founder and managing director. Her research areas focus on psychological wellbeing, couples relationships, and work-family issues. She is the co-author of Happiness 2.0 (in Turkish).

Gizem Öztemür is Research Assistant of Guidance and Psychological Counseling department at MEF University, Istanbul. She graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Guidance and Psychological Counseling program at Boğaziçi University with the high honor degree. During her undergraduate education, she attended Erasmus Program and took courses from Psychology Department of Copenhagen University, Denmark. She started Master of Arts program in Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Boğaziçi University, İstanbul. She is still working on her master thesis.

Mahmut Kertil has received her bachelor (B.S) degree in the Department of Mathematics Education at Boğaziçi University in 2004, M.S. degree in Mathematics Education at Marmara University in 2008, and PhD degree in Mathematics Education at Middle East Technical University in 2014. He worked as research assistant at Marmara and Middle East Technical Universities through his M.S PhD education. During these years, he participated in Scientific Research Projects (BAP) funded by Marmara University and TUBITAK. He continues to participate various research projects as researcher funded by TUBİTAK and Marmara University. He published various research papers at national and international journals. His research interests are mathematical modelling and problem solving, mathematical thinking, and teacher education. Mahmut Kertil has been working at Marmara University since June 2014.

İpek Gökozan, graduated from Koç University with double major degrees on Psychology and Business Administration holding 100% Scholarship and Honors Degree. She had her Masters Degree on Clinical Psychology at Doğuş University and ranked first among graduates. She has worked as a Psychologist at İstanbul Kemerburgaz University Psychological Counseling Center. Between 2013-2018 she worked at İstanbul Madalyon Psychiatric Center as Child and Adolescent Psychologist and Psychoterapist.
Since October 2018, she has been working at Mita Pscychology (co-founder) as Child and Adolescent Psychologist and Psychoterapist. She also gives trainings to corporate companies and schools.
She worked as a visiting academician at Işık University between 2015-2016 and at Aydın University between 2017-2018.
İpek Gökozan wrote her first book (published on 2018) about how to teach sexuality and reproduction for pre-schoolers, named Teo’nun Ben Nereden Geldim Kitabı.
She is currently working on a new book project about self-esteem on children.
Sedef Oral has received her bachelor degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department from Boğaziçi University. She started MA Program in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Couple-Family Therapy at İstanbul Bilgi University. She worked as a research assistant in the Centre for Family Research at the University of Cambridge in 2015 and in Couple-Family Therapy Research at İstanbul Bilgi University in 2016. After her graduation, she worked at a private high school as a school counselor. She has been practicing individual, couple- family, and group therapy in psychological counseling centres and NGOs for two years.
She is a member of ÇATED and British Psychological Society (MBPsS).
Hilal Döner (MSc) has received her bachelor degree from Boğaziçi University, Department of Educational Sciences in Guidance and Psychological Counseling. She earned her Master’s degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling at the Middle East Technical University (METU). Her thesis was entitled “Sexual Knowledge, Sexual Experiences, and Views on Sexuality Education Among Adults with Visual Disabilities.” After her first career as school counselor, she engaged in academic work, first as a research assistant at the Maltepe University, Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program and then at the METU Disability Support Office (DSO). During doctoral studies, she also studied as visiting researcher at the Ghent University (Belgium) via Erasmus+ programme for conducting a research on sexual assistance for people with disabilities. She still continues her doctoral studies at the METU. She has been also providing individual counseling services in both Istanbul and Ankara. Her research interests include disability and close relationships, social and emotional development of gifted children and counseling with culturally diverse populations.
Akın Cihan received his bachelor degree in Psychological Counseling and Guidance department from Boğaziçi University. He took part in peer guidance project during his undergraduate years. They made a survey of peer guidance programs at elementary and secondary schools in Istanbul and presented their study at International Association for Counseling Congress. He completed his master’s degree at Boğaziçi University in the department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling. His thesis dissertation was about extending a counseling intake form and examination of psychosocial problems of university students. He attended two-year Gestalt Personal Development Program. He participated in solution-focused brief therapy, cognitive existential therapy and play therapy trainings. He received counseling supervision from Nevin Dölek for four years. He worked with pre, primary and middle school students. He has been working as a school counselor in private schools for seven years.
Burcu Çarpar has received her bachelor degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department from Boğaziçi University. She earned her Master’s degree in Applied Psychology at the İstanbul Ticaret University. Her dissertation was about the effect of sexual education in 7-12 aged children. After her graduation, she worked as a counselor, at primary and secondary schools dealing with various age groups. She also carried out school guidance department coordination. She has expertise in Cognitive Assessment Systems Test (CAS), Characterix Personality inventory, children projective tests, visual perception,attention tests and solution-focused brief therapy. She is still working as a school counselor.
